Carpet and Panther living together?

I have a female carpet chameleon now, about 3 months old. I want to get a male panther chameleon and house them in the same cage. I'm not trying to breed them, I just don't have the room for another cage. My cage isnt small, but it's not huge. I'm wondering if I could do this without them killing each other or stressing each other out. Any answers would be great.

Thanks

I'm not experienced with trying to house chams together but from what I've heard while on this forum is that it's a bad idea and is very hard, and that's when there the same species!

It is not recommend to house most species together. Usually they are stressed and one will become dominate and the other becomes sick and dies.

I agree with Jann, they would stress each other out, and one would end up dying as a result, probably the smaller carpet female.

If you don't have the space, I would gently suggest waiting until you do. An adult male panther chameleon needs a minimum cage size of 24x24x48 inches, and that is all to himself, and even then that is an absolute minimum, they love having larger territories. I don't know as much about carpets, Dooley would be your best bet for asking about their requirements.

Very few chameleon species will even tolerate another member of their own species, they are such fragile reptiles, it's a battle to keep just one individual happy at times, you really wouldn't want to stress yourself out by making that job even less likely to succeed!

Def not, i have a pair of carpets and each one has its own enclosure witch measures 30*30*18, and a pair of Ambilobes each with its own enclosure. At first when i had my chams most enclosures were next to each other in view of one another, and i noticed after a few days my chams were displaying stressful coloration. Just seeing each other seemed to be very stressful at times. ( It has since been changed )

No, don't even try that. Even if one does not physically attack the other, they will stress each other by posturing and color display. The "loser" will be intimidated to the point of starvation or constant dehydration. You'll end up losing one or both.
