Can a females beardie lay without mating??? Very important as I was told she wouldn't and I don't want to be one of those owners who finds out too late! I will quote the guy "She won't have eggs without a male, and if you keep them together even if she did get eggs she will hold them as long as she can and just say the hell with it and lay."

Truth? BS? Please??

Nope sorry. They are like chickens, they lay duds, but they always will lay eggs. And no they will not stay small if you keep them in a small tank, they are not fish.

Okay so what do I do? Her enclosure is right and she's only 6 months so when should I expect them? Can she get egg bound?? Wow this guy has really ticked me off...

If a female is holding eggs fertile or not and does not have a lay bin it can be VERY stressful and could cause huge health problems. But yes as mentioned before she can lay eggs without a mate but they of course will not be fertile.

Not all females that have never had a mate lay eggs but some do.

Don't you just love the audacity of some folks to just give out advice when they are so uninformed

She will start scratching aimlessly and becoming very restless. She is still fairly young though.

Is there a difference between her laying bin and that of a cham? I'm worried now. Do you know at what age she can lay?

Yeah that guy was a douchenozzle. Sold me a sick baby and wouldn't refund when he died, wouldn't even meet up to take him and possibly save him. He also told me that our girl (same clutch as our boy) was not of the same clutch and could be bred together. Luckily I was too smart for that. This guy really needs shut down.

Remember though Not all females will lay infertile eggs but the ones who do are usually at least a year old, sometimes older. Technically though, most females are able to reproduce by 6 months but IMO should never be breed until they are one year /300 grams

Okay I have a while then! Good. I was worried!! Hopefully she won't lay lol. But Idk about breeding her...that would take someone with a lot less freak out genes than me lol :)

Keep in mind that if he fed you all that BS the age may be off too....
Don't worry I freak over so many things when it comes to my animals....i can be quite obsessive about things and i don't mind saying it...LOL.

You'll hear them scratching. I don't so much as put a bin in as I put a tupperware container with damp playsand in there sideways - so that the opening is not facing upwards, but instead outwards towards the dragon. I place it in the same corner they were digging in. So far so good - with 3 females and no males (all about 4 years old) I'll usually get 2 clutches of infertile eggs per summer. I've never had dragons before so this is normal for me, but more than likely those who have kept them for far longer have had other experiences.

My friend has had 2 female beardies for about 4 years and in that 4 years only one has laid eggs. She just plonked them out in a corner lol! But yes they can lay them but I'm not sure what the laying bin needs are I'm afraid!
