Calcium / vitamins

I have a juvenile veiled was wondering on calcium an vitamins weekly use I been doing 8 10 crickets everyother day calcium an twice week vitamins both have d3

From what I've been reading, I would be concerned about feeding that much D3; I've been told calcium with D3 no more than twice a week for a veiled (and maybe less), and it sounds like you're feeding double D3 with every feeding.

You'll likely need to look up specific information for veileds, as the species vary in their dietary needs.

How many months, and male or female?

"Neonates – Sub-Adult (hatchling–5 months old)
- Plain calcium every day
- Calcium D3 twice a month
- Multivitamin twice a month

Sub-Adult – Adult Male(5-10 months old)
- Plain calcium 4 times a week
- Calcium D3 twice a month
- Multivitamin twice a month

Adult (12+)
- Plain calcium 3-4 times a week
- Calcium D3 once or twice a month
- Multivitamin once or twice a month"

Plain calcium is calcium WITHOUT vitamin D3.

what brands?
what lighting do you use ? is the cham outside in the sun at all?
How old is it? male or female?
what feeder prey do you offer? what do you gutload with?

I would say 4-5 months male he is inside it's repti calcium with d3 and reptivite with d3

I only had him a week so I only feed him the calcium twice but that the way I was going to do it

Lighting I have 60 watt basking light and a 18 inch UVB fluorescent light

I also gutload colli greens kale etc

What is the correct calcium brand need with out d3

the rep-cal brand of calcium with D3 is VERY potent. You only want to use this about twice a month.

You'll want to get a vitamin free calcium powder for more regular use. I suggest sticky tongue farms MINERAL-O

Would u think they have the vitamins with d3 at a pet smart ?

If i gut load using I high calcium veggies do I need to still use a calcium no d3 every day

Yes, so long as you dont use too much of it. I used that brand with total success for over 10 years. The key is not to overdo it, that's all.

You use a calcium supplement on those days when the feeder prey you are providing has the wrong calcium to phosphorous ratio. So that would not be "every day" if you are feeding a nice variety of feeders. Things like terrestrial ispods and butterworms do not need to be dusted with calcium, and are easily gutloaded so that vitamin dusting is also unnecessary. But if you are relying on crickets (which have the wrong calcium to phosphorous ratio) then you would always light dust those, even if you gutload well.

You should try to offer a very wide range of prey, allowing no single feeder prey choice to make up more than 20% of the diet if possible, and certainly not more than 40%.

no idea what they sell in your local stores. But if you dont find it locally, buy it online.
The rep-cal plain calcium is fine, if that's more readily available to you

I'm curious about this one too. I've looked around and pretty much all I've seen at the pet stores are Calcium with D3. So any recommendations (brand/where to get) on plain calcium would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
