Anyone keep fancy goldfish?

I have a 30 gallon tank with some oranda and lionhead goldfish. I read a lot that they are smart. I'm tempted to try some tests on them.

We keep a 55 full of them! I think they look like chicken nuggets with fins! Lol! I like the way they loo at you when you get near their tank!

I used to. I kept several varieties. They can be taught tricks I've heard. Mine were hand fed but I never taught them tricks. They did like to come up to the front of the tank and watch people. Probably hoping for food!

They are my favorite fish for sure.

awesome ive been trying to look for some more lionheads but I cant find any. or the crown pearl scale goldfish.

Maybe they're smart because it looks like their brain is about to explode??? lol. They're are fish stores all over the San Gabriel Valley that sell them.

Ahh, sounds like waaaaay to many in a single tank! The fancy ones generally need 20 gallons for the first fish and at least another 10 per fish after that.

These guys get HUGE when they aren't crowded. I have a black moor that is at least 4.5" excluding fins. He lives in his own 30 gallon and it even looks small for him!

I was thinking the same. They absolutely need 20g for one ..I would even say, 20g for each. I had 2 "feeders" live in a 40g for 12 years. They were HUGE and very happy.

I don't care for goldfish, I sometimes get them for my turtle tank, just for an extra treat, but since they are high in fat and oils, I don't really feed them off. Luckily they last a while, since I have two 2011 Hatchling Turtles. c: So I get some time to watch them swim around and add a bit of color compared to my feeder guppies that don't die and keep growing and reproducing. D: But someday. They will get eaten by the turtles. :3

The Fancy Goldfish, don't impress me, but the heads are weird. I like the ones with the big eyes. O___O
