    Baby hoppers, started hatching.

Nice! And I too kept mine outdoors last summer, hoping they’d behave more naturally and make babies- plus save on my already hefty electric bill in Southern California during the summer. I may place mine outdoors again soon.

    Baby hoppers, started hatching.

Yeah this was my first successful attempt. I had purchased gray bird hoppers in the past but only one female out of the group actually laid eggs, and they never hatched. This time I caught some wild gray bird hoppers, and put them in a screen cage with a basking light and a couple containers...

    Baby hoppers, started hatching.

I just hatched out a bunch of Schistocerca nitens, in my garage, in a container of sand, no heat, only sprayed the sand with water once. Temps ranged from 70-80. Took the eggs about 60 days to hatch. I’ve heard that sometimes they lay eggs that need a winter diapause, but not sure.

    Help with breeding furcifer verrucosus

I haven’t even seen those in captivity, are they the subspecies found on Mauritius? Red females and red headed males? Verrucosus are a highly underrated species.

    Help with breeding furcifer verrucosus

Thanks! I Have not reached out, wasn’t sure if he would know of anyone with verrucosus- I know he has a few different species though and used to have some Verrucosus !

    Help with breeding furcifer verrucosus

I know this is probably a long shot. I am in search of a healthy male furcifer Verrucosus. I have an abundance of females and no males. And the imports I’ve seen are in such terrible shape, I’d prefer to avoid dealing with them, as the last male import I received was basically dead on arrival...

Need to Rehome Veiled Chameleon Sylmar, CA

I live near sylmar, I’m in Santa Clarita. Could probably take him/her. Would love to see photos of him/her and the setup. I currently keep panther chameleons, oustaleti, and verrucosus. I’ve kept veiled chameleons in the past and raised the babies as well.

Some of us get cicadas, some of us get...

I wish I could get some of these Mormon crickets- which are actually a type of Katydid. Would make a great feeder for larger chams.

    CBB Trioceros cristatus juvenile male

Yeah they may have, but that was long ago now, and it appears not many if any bred them successfully. For some reason the mainland African species aside from Jackson’s are rare in the US. I remember years ago seeing them being imported quite often, but not so much in recent years. And you’d...

    CBB Trioceros cristatus juvenile male

Please do this!!!! We need this species to get established in captivity. I’d be down to buy CB offspring.

How to import chameleon into US?

Thanks that’s what I was trying to get at. I’ve searched how to obtain permits. But it’s so convoluted and hard to understand what I’m doing. So I was hoping to find an importer who understands the process and what I would need to do.

    Bee pollen…

Well I do know katydids and other Orthoptera are often fed bee pollen in captivity- and they love it, anecdotally private keepers of exotic katydids claim higher survival rates of katydids from hatching to maturity when using bee pollen to supplement the diet. Again. Just anecdotal info from...

    Rate my enclosure

Looking good. Just remember plants need plant lights to thrive. Maybe you have it, and I just can’t see it- but I’d recommend adding a T5 6500k light in addition to the UVB and basking light.

    Tanzania CITES Kinyongia

sorry this is a bit off topic, but where can I find quota lists and species lists for cites? When I go to the official site no matter what I type in “species” no matches. I would like to better understand the process of importing reptiles, and how to find exporters. But I can’t seem to find...

How to import chameleon into US?

Also, after googling these companies - they seem to be actual importers. So where are they getting their chameleons? Who are the exporters, and how do you become an importer? I would like to communicate directly with the exporter and import animals into the US myself.
