Wild caught flies: Safe for chameleons to eat?

I have a fischer chameleon, and I was considering trying to catch flies. Do chameleons like houseflies? Would it be safe for him to eat since sometimes flies eat garbage? He's been eating mostly crickets and wax worms, so I figured a flying insect would be a nice change of pace. Tell me what you think and thanks!

keep them for a while and feed them things like fruits and veggies youd want your cham to eat...careful on the waxworms, they are very fatty, try superworms instead.

Flies are fine, however your better off buying clean flies and hatching them yourself, to ensure they are clean.

Flies like to eat dirty things (rotting food,poop..etc) The risk of parasites is more then I care to deal with. I get my houseflies and blue bottle flies for Mantisplace and Spider pharm.

I agree with Jay. My chams snatch a fly every now and then when I have them outside and my male Luie got coccidia and I've always thought it was from eating the flies. I now try very hard to try to keep them from snagging one.

My chams shoot for flies in the widow outside their enclosures all the time. I always want to catch and feed them, but I always worry of the parasite issue as well.

flies are a great source of entertainment for your cham, something most captive kept chams are seriously lacking , but why take a risk over a couple of wild caugt flies when like malicious said,(from the mantiseplace.com or the spiderpharm.com) you can get a culture of 500 house or blue bottle flies delivered for less than $15, you can just put them in the fridge for 10 min to immobilize them, they are easy to care for and easy to keep the cultures going. also, unlike crickets, if they get loose, you dont have to worry about them breeding in your house
