Hello. Would something like this work as a starting off point for an enclosure? Does it matter if it is plastic or steel/metal?

With that, and some screen, you could easily have an enclosure, with a space for a drain bin.

thank you! that's what I was kind of thinking I just didn't know if I chose a plastic one if that would cause any problems

Plastic wont rust like metal, but IMO it would be harder to "manipulate" if you needed to cut it or something.

I use the metal type.

One benefit of a metal shelf would be that you could just set the lights on top. With the plastic, you will have to mount them on the underneath of the top shelf, and then still find a way to cover them with screen or something so the cham cant get to them.

The problem with these types of shelves is that the only way they fit together is by connecting shelf to shelf. It's not like the full height is a frame, and then they place a shelf in the middle that you could leave out if you wanted. That would be ideal. Especially if it was a metal one, with adjustable shelves you could slide up or down, etc. but then that type won't run you only 20 bucks! Lol.
