Sometimes they will just puff up for no reason. Sometimes my chameleon does it in the morning. Sometimes they will do it if they are mad or agitated.

My favorite is when they stick their chin out, hold one of their front legs up and rock back and forth. My female does that to me sometimes lmao. the male never really does it or he hasn't yet.

N'kulu will do that every once in awhile, generally right before feeding time. I think it's his "Woman, I'm hungry! I demand you cater to me at once!" face at this point.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless he's black, then he might be very disturbed by something.

AS Carol and Lee have indicated, it is likely due to stress, or your cham going into defense mode. Please leave him alone and let him "chill out" before re-engaging with him.

It's a defensive posture to make himself appear too big to eat or mess with. Just as cats will "puff" out to appear bigger when they feel threatened by larger animals such as dogs. He feels stressed.

Yeah same here mine puffs up in the Morning, but its nothing to worry about

I see in your picture he is under his basking light and my chameleon does that to get all the light all over her body like when u go to the beach and bring a reflector to get a tan.

Cham seem to "poof-up" for many reasons. Usually if they are pissed or if they are cold they will flatten up to create a larger surface. You may see them angled towards their heat source as a way to warm up.

Her was my little girl, she was not thrilled I was in her terrarium to clean up..

My girl fluffs me all the time. It's a stress posture, she's very territorial. She fluffs me and holds her little hand up. My husband says that she's keeping her pimp hand strong lol
