What to feed

that guy

New Member
My chameleon is starting to eat less of his food. I give him dubia roaches, and crickets all the time with the occasional super worm. I was wondering what other insects I could try feeding him. I'd really like to keep dubia as the staple diet and I don't want him getting hooked on anything else. Any recommendations?

Silkworms or hornworms are easy ones to add. :D

My 2 guys love the hornworms, but they do grow really fast. My last batch outgrew my Chams, this time I ordered small ones and am keeping them much cooler in hopes it slows growth.

What kind of chameleon?
Mantis, stick insects, and flies. There's lots of good choices out there.

recommendation #1 - don't have a staple.

Instead, offer a variety of prey, always. aim to have no single prey type make up any more than 40% of the diet. Even better if you offer enough choices that no single feeder prey type need make up more than 20% of the total monthly diet.

options include: termites, indian walking sticks, silkworms, butterworms, terrestrial isopods (wood sows), moths, hornworms, blue bottle flies, hissers, soldier fly maggots...
