I am going to get Pablo tomorrow and through research I have discovered that panthers do not have spurs like veils do! (I thought all chams had spurs)

I learned that the hemipene bulge is the best way to tell them apart.
I looked at pictures all over the internet and it seems that females have a bump under their tail too, so what's the difference between a female bump and a male bump?

Can someone please upload a photo of a male bulge and a female bulge so I can see the difference?

The chams I will be looking at are about 4 months old (3-4 inches) so what should the bulges look like at that age?

Thanks so much in advance!

Danielle

I forgot to mention that they are Ambilobes, I don't know if it makes a difference or not when sexing the juveniles.

By that age the males should also have more color. The male tail will be bigger around at the base. Go to my daughters website and look at her baby Ambilobes.

hey liz that's neat, I referenced your site!

The color is so obvious but the tail bump got me confused. I guess I should judge based on color then.

I see you found my daughters chams. Female are not colorful like the males. The are mostly pink/orange.

You are lookin at the "anus" you need to look right after that at the base of the tail.

ahhhhhh that makes sense. So after the flap, between the legs?

geez these questions are getting silly :p

i just want to make sure I get a boy becuase a girl can't be named Pablo!

No problem, I bought that female because it was supposed to be a male. I know better now and can tell almost instantly! Good luck getting you male. What type of ambilobe is he? Do you have any pics of him or of his parents?

I GOT PABLO!!!!!

It was very easy to tell them apart, I'm glad I had your photo becuase it was very obvious.

I am going to post his pictures in the "general photography" section right away!
