I didn't find a thread!!! I have one, a year old now. Got him (her?) when he was 3 weeks old..pet store over bought so we only paid $25!! his partner died last year when some kids cam over and messed in my tank without telling me.:( His name is BURP..Has developed nice and is in a lot of my pics. I know they say dont handle due to stress and skin..Im very careful and he actually climb to the top of his tank and waits for me to say hello and jumps on my hand..:) I want to get him a new friend but Im just so scared that it will be sick or too small and he will eat it (or vice versa!!) He just got upgraded form his 10gal hex to a large Exoterra tank..so he is in awe! He shares it with 2 cricket frogs (WC from the creek) and a salamander who somehow made it into the tank without me knowing and has resided there for about 7 months now. I was inquiring if anyone knew how to sex them? I thought i was told buys had blue bellies and girls had pink but that seems rather silly..ill get pics of his setup later. Also, does anyone know if they need UVB? Ive always had one going for him just to be safe. Here are some snapshots.:)

The peace one is when I First got him and the one on the wall vase is the most recent.

So cute!
They do best in larger groups, so getting a friend or too is a good idea.
UVB light is not essential with Red Eyed Tree Frogs, as they are a completely nocturnal frog and wouldnt naturally come into contact with sunlight much in the wild. If you use one, make it a small low watt one.

Thats a very good point!! Bye I have the cricket frogs int here too..Honestly I didnt think they would make it a day but they have been int here since summer..My kids brought them home and they seem pretty happy..so I didnt know if they needed it too. Yea, we keep asking the pet store to order us one but they never have..and when they only get one at a time, they want 64.99 for it! :(

I have the spiral in a clamp lamp. I do have an extra 18" 5.0 but the tank is a square and I think thats too big..so I just always use the clamp..have for a year with no issues..Ive heard that all reptiles and amphibians need UVB and then Ive heard that certain dont..

How cute. I am waiting it out until the end of the month to go to the reptile show to get mine. I am so so so excited!!!

I cant find any reptile shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh! Youd think Nashville would be overpopulated with them! I would love more.. he's alonely guy, but he is awesome.. His light goes off and he wakes up..thats also why I think UVB is important, it simulated the end of day for him. Thanks for all the compliments. Im open to new ideas if anyone want to see anything! He's very photogenic and listens quite well. LOL.:) Better than my kids or dogs!

I have a four year old, several, dogs, cats and a ton of reptiles. The only ones who listen to me are the reptile. :)

I just got some for like 9 bucks a piece from a guy named chris in tampa. He has really cheap shipping and mine came out to be like 35 for 2 shipped. They both arrived really fast and he was great at communicating through the whole thing. I think he has some left. Heres his email if your interested... [email protected]

You know you should really not mix them frogs together.

The WC frogs you have in the tank can carry all kinds of diseases. Not to metion the salamander. Every thing you have mixed needs a different enviorment to remain happy.

They do not need UVB at all.

They do not need UVB at all.

The salamander fond his own way in and has resided there for over 6 months now as well as the cricket frogs. They have survived fine in my environment and my Red eye is over a year old now. I removed the UVB and use a Sunlight bulb. It simulated daylight and thus, allows him to know when its nighttime as it goes off at 7pm. He may not "need" it but I think its beneficial to his internal clock and he has been doing great with it. He has tripled in size and is a healthy eater. Besides, in the wild, he would coexist with other reptiles and amphibians. I dont know that he is CB anyways. But thank you for your opinion.:)

and Im gonna check on the guy that is selling them. they wanted 35 for ababy at Aquatic Critter but they were 1/3 of my guys size and I know thats not a good combo so I need am older/larger one so thanks for the info.

Rachel, you get any at the show?

Here is a pic of my redeye and the salamander hanging out at the local watering hole having a chat. (and the dirt is just from the salamander coming in from the soil into the water where he likes to hang out when he wakes up)

So, Im still looking for someone with Red Eyes. I will not be using the guy above and i will just say that the rest of you would be better off not doing so as well. I had a thread about it but it snot allowed so it was removed...but you can PM me if you are interested in knowing the details of that rude person.:)

So anyone have any. Should I place an ad in classifieds? :)

While I understand perfectly of your frustration, this kind of issues is not favorable in maintaining the positive environment for the forum.
Just a bit reminder on the site rules and the reason(s) why the original thread was deleted:
