I am a new veiled chameleon (7)MONTHS and panther chameleon ( 3 MONTHS OLD) owner I HAVE Had BOTH FOR A WEEK!! the two are in different cages one cage is 24" x 24" X 48 and the other is a 18 x 18 x 36 both cages are in inches. They are both side by side. They both eat very well and the panther drinks from the leaves when i mist but I NEVER SEE THE VEILD EVER EVER DRINK ANY WATER!!!!! WHEN I MIST THE CAGE IS GETS AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!!! I Have never had a misting system before and I am looking for a simple installation / usage system that is both reliable and has longevity. I would need the set up to accommodate both cages preferably both working on one system. I would like some help telling me what system you suggest if you could. I also know there is a few companies out there to do this and i was wondering what makes them different then other system. i ALSO HAD A QUESTION ON WHAT TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDITY LEVELS DO YOU SUGGEST FOR THEM?? Look forward to hearing from you !!!The other major questions i had is what are the best feeders to use?

well first off i cant help ya with everything here but question 1. Does your veileds poo got any yellow in it? if it does he is dehydrated, the temperature for your veileds basking spot your gunna want to be between 85 - 90 F and for your panther your gunna want it to be 80 - 85, after a while maybe every month rais your panthers temp up a dagree until he is older as far as misting systems go i say stick with the good old spray bottle unless you are gone alot of the time.

i stick to spraying my veiled a few times a day, more in summer as it the humidity drops quicker in summer (in my experience anyway), i keep it around 60-70 (veiled, don't know about panther)

i'm not much help, but oh well, every little helps!!

Hello, welcome to the forums!

As far as drinking goes, a lot of people don't see their chameleons drink at all. You should look at their urates (the white part of their poop). If it is white or white with a very small yellow tip, then they are hydrated well. If the urate is orange or yellow then they are dehydrated and need more water. You should set up a dripper system to run all day so they have more opportunity to get water.

Also, make sure you have something between the cages, like paper or wood, just some sort of barrier so that they cannot see each other. This could stress them out.

I stick with garden sprayers that you pump up and it will spray for a pretty long time. You can get that from Home Depot for like $7. I know a lot of people like to use MistKing though, so you could try that if you want a sprayer on a timer.

For chameleons, it is best to mix up your feeders. Silkworms are my favorite, but I also feed crickets and dubia roaches. Butterworms are good too. The most important thing with feeders is to make sure you have a good gut load. Some people on the forum sell cricket crack which is good, but also make sure you put in greens-like collard greens, mustard greens, or kale-potatoes are good, you can put an orange slice in, also oatmeal/rice dry baby food is good.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Does anybody have some input on who makes the best misting system out there ? The major ones I have heard of is Mist King and Pro Mist .. does anybody have ether and what are the differences on the kits?

i read the info on the Phoenix Worms on various site but does anybody use them or feel that they really are better then other feeders? Also they say butter worms are very high in calcium as well any thoughts?

You can use a variety of feeders. The ones that can be more regularly used are crickets, locusts/grasshoppers (non toxic,) stick bugs, various types of cockroach (I like B. dubia,) silkworms, hornworms, superworms, Phoenix worms, and butter worms. There are many other types of food as well, but those would probably be the easiest to get.

Phoenix worms are good for babies, adults tend to not even blink an eye at them. Many chams can't digest them properly as well.

Humidity should be around 40-50% dry, 70-90+% wet/right after misting, and should hang around 60-70% for an hour or two after misting.

If you want a good feeder with a lot of calcium, I think silkworms are best. Also, as long as you are supplementing correctly, you don't necessarily need a feeder with a ton of calcium. What is your supplement schedule look like now?
