I bought a pothos plant from a home depot and was wondering if I need to take out the totem pole in middle of pot or if it's safe too keep it there?

Unless your Cham starts snacking on the fibers, it's fine. I have the same potions in my frog enclosure. I like that the central totem gives it support. FYI it's just a plastic tube wrapped in cocomat. You could substitute it with a stick easily.

Welcome to the forum!

The pole will mold if you have an automatic watering system. If you hand water, you may not get the mold.

CHEERS!

Ah that's a good point - I don't have that issue in my frog cage, so I didn't think of that.

I would not be overly worried about mold growing on coconut fiber, though that may be a concern. It is chemicals that are sprayed on plants or that they are dunked in that I worry about. The Chameleon is not going to ingest the fiber, but crickets crawl on it they can sometimes be affected by crawling on some chemicals. But that is being overly cautious. Some states require that plants are dunked, some do not.

Hi Welcome to the forums. This is a great place to be if you're obsessed about chams. I know I definitely am!!
I have a Pothos plant with a fiber plant stick in my enclosure which has been fine. They don't mind the heat or lots of water. Make sure you wash the leaves really good before you put it in and rinse it off really good just in case it has pesticides. A lot of chams like to eat leaves. I use Dove liquid Dish washing soap.
