Parasites on Umbrella tree?

Leaves have been falling off my shefflera arboricola at a rapid rate in my panther's cage and I just notices dozens of little spots on the bottom of the leaves that have fallen off. They are too small to see what they actually are but I am guessing that they are some kind of parasite burrowing in the leaves and robbing it of nutrients? How do I handle a problem like this? I obviously don't want to use pesticides because of the chameleon. I know i could remove the plant , treat it, clean it and return it. But then Leon will be without his tree and need a new one for the time being any way. Is there any way to get rid of them without pesticides?
Thanks

If it is a really bad infestation you may need to take the plant out for a while. A simple solution is cleaning the enclosure and buying a new plant. You can sideline the plant you have now. Start by cleaning the leaves, and roots and re-potting in clean sterile soil. Then purchase some Neam oil and spray that all over the plant at night when it isnt getting any sun. Check on the plant for the next couple weeks to make sure no infestations have continued. If the plant is clean of the infestation and the neam oil has had plenty of time to evaporate then it is safe to introduce back to the enclosure. Good Luck.
