Nails?

My chameleons nails are getting really sharp, is there any way to file them down, or no?

You shouldnt have to. Do ou have a picture of his nails so we can see how long they are.

its not extremely long. just long enough to scratch and pinch when being held.

Thats just something you will have to get use to with having a chameleon. They need those sharp nails to be able to help grip things when there climbing

HAHA nice I clip the tips off of my veileds nails but not enough to prevent her from climbing well, and ONLY because I need to handle her multiple times a day since she is very sick. I would not recommend it for a healthy chameleon, if you put real, baked sticks in with him to climb it may help file the nails down. Also you can try the bird pirches with sand paper around them. I have seen those around.

Do not trim your chameleon's nails.

Long nails are a great thing for a chameleon. This helps them climb all the places they do. Many members complain that their chams. will file their nails down badly on the sides of screen enclosures. So charish the long nails.

Ok I can get over the scratches I was mainly wondering for Health issues that he might get But since its a good thing That makes me Happy knowing he is good and healthy/

The best fix? A shirt.

If you use natural rough barked branches in his cage that can help a little.
