My Enclosure!

Little Hat

New Member
Hi Everyone,

So here are some pics of my enclosure I set up for a 3 month old panther I'm getting this week. The cage is 24" x 12" x 24", already drawing up plans to construct a new because this little guy is going to grow fast! I did a dry run of the lights and the basking area temperature is only getting up to about 72 degrees which is pretty low for a panther because I've been reading anything between 85 to 95 degrees is acceptable. Do you think its because I have a Zoo Med 75W Basking Spot Lamp? Should I increase the wattage? The temperature was taken with a digital thermometer with the probe within the basking area, 6 inches down from the basking lamp.

Thanks!

Yeah, you could increase the bulb wattage, or lower the bulb a little closer to the basking spot. What is the temperature at the bottom of the cage?
Congratulations on getting your chameleon, and good luck with him!
