I was just wondering if there had been any one who had used a strictly UV B lamp (say the type from a tanning salon or Medical distributor) in combination with say a full spectrum bulb for their light sources.
As far as I know, the bulbs used for tanning salons don't output UVB in the wavelength needed by chams for the synthesis of Vit. D.
I think it's safer to stick with what is tried and tested. Can't go wrong with a ReptiSun 5.0 and/or unfiltered natural sunlight...
(remember, companies like ZooMed have actually done a lot of research on reptiles to determine exactly what type of UVB is needed by them).
