Just my two cents on something.

Hello everyone. Recently i have been fighting with a member on here by PM's about something i thought was extremely important in their chameleons life and they agreed to disagree and didn't give two sh**s about it. Then i realized that if they didn't want to follow my advice into helping them out with their pet...thats entirely their problem. So i decided to stop PM them and to never bother being in contact with them.

I'm sure most of you( if not all of you) have been in some type of dispute with another member on here privately(PM) or publicly(THREADS). Some of us tend to do things differently then others, and then believe that the way they do things is the ONLY and right way in keeping a chameleon healthy. Well i have a surprise...its not. Their seem to be people that think that the way they do things to make their chameleon have a long and healthy life, is the same way everyone else should.

Some of you may not understand what im saying and some of you may.
For example, some people say that for a UVB bulb, the chameleon MUST have a Repti Sun. BUT there are people with Repti Glo and they have the same success with it as with a Repti Sun.

My whole flabbily blabber about this is the following. Chameleons are very remarkable animals and i can assure that its a great pleasure to have them as a pet as im sure you all agree. Their are MANY MANY ways of keeping them strong and healthy. Not just one. We all need to agree to learn off each other and that is why we came to this forum. To learn. :) If their was only one way to do things, it will be quite boring to be honest, because then we cant keep improving our chameleons husbandry and so forth.

I remember when i had my 40 veield babies last year, a member on here got so fed up with the fact that i didn't provide them with UVB the first week because i was told they didn't need it IMMEDIATELY. This member went on to contact others to bug me about it and at one point wanted me to take care of my babies the same way they once did. I chose to do what i thought was right and learn from whatever the outcome was.

My point is that there are many different ways to do things and always let yourself learn from your chameleons and fellow members! I hope you all understand what i mean! :)

I agree. I see that a lot with free ranging vs. cages, where some poeple think we're nuts for having chameleons in an evironment that they think is worse for keeping things like temps and humidity stable. I've had success with it but it might work well for me, who lives in warm and humid Fl, but not for someone in Canada. So it really does depend. How you do things and what works well depends on so many factors. There really isn't a single way to do anything with them.

I know what you mean, it's a difficult balancing act. This PM disagreement you got into recently where you tried to advise someone is the same as when you were advised to do differently with the baby uv.
You decided to go your own way, as did the person you advised.......I expect advice was listened to both times, hopefully with no ill effects to the chams in question. Either way learning is achieved, but if it must be done the hard way there is nothing anyone online can do about it - we just have to get on with our own lives and try to use the information and experience we have to do our best. Good luck to all who make an honest effort, and to any who don't - thanks for nothing!
