Is your chameleon a hunter?

I don't feed out of a cup, just drop the crickets into his enclosure and let him get after it....he is so much fun to watch and I really think he loves to hunt, he will stalk and then that tongue shoots out....he will climb all over his vines and plants stalking his prey, I guess this is really good activity for him and keeps him from getting bored.

All chameleons are hunters. And Im sure most chameleon keepers have appreciation for the way they catch prey. such amazing creatures!

Mine feed from large bowls (prey has lots of room to move - the cham still has to focus/aim/hunt), plus one or two smaller feeding containers (moved around the cage), plus free-roaming when I can be there to ensure the prey is immediately eaten or when the prey is non-dangerous (silkworm, butterworm, moths etc) to leave in there or wont just hide in a corner or potentially escape into my house (roach). Obviously the bowl feeding is best for keeping bugs gutloaded (since I leave some gutload in there) and monitoring food intake, if the chameleons arent immediately eating what is offered. Free-roaming food allows for "overhead" feeding which is the only thing bowls dont permit. So my chams have the Best of both worlds!
