So you all know how i bought my blue nosey be japser from the reptile expo. well the owner has 3 pregnant females hes selling for 200$ because he doesnt want them anymore because he doesnt want to handle taking care of all the babies and im considering taking one from him because my boy is the daddy and i dont want him to just "get rid of her" because he owns a pet store and chameleons are easy for him to get and shes beautiful... but i have no experience with incubating eggs i was going to try with crested geckos and beardies first then later move to my chameleons.. but the offer was given to me.. so i dont know what to do i need some expierence advice.

i know all about mellers and incubating there eggs but are panthers the same? i just need as much info as possible before i buy her because i dont want to loose her clutch.. but i dont want her to be killed or given to someone who doesnt know anything at all..

and please dont judge me or post anything rude i am going to you guys for help and advice.

I dont think anyone will post anthing rude. we all have the first clutch/breeding jitters.

for incubating. i would keep the eggs in vermiculite, then find a nice, dark, warm closet.. stick them in, and wait.

i have a 150 gal tank with stand and inside the stand its dark humid and warm i was thinking of putting them in there? i have doors so my cat or dog couldnt get in there nothing could get in there.

and i had a previous post about something similar where people were very rude so i dont want it to happen again.

that works.
just make sure oyu check that the substrate you use doesnt get too dry or too wet.
if the eggs mold over withina few weeks of being laid, they are infertile and you can throw them out.

what kind of substrate should i use? and should i bother with buying a incubator? also what temps should they always be at and should i mist them?

I use vermiculite, but you can also use hatchrite and perlite.

No misting- especially once they get past 5 month mark, it has been known to trigger early hatching.

as for temps- i keep my veiled eggs around 77-79

okay so no misting at all...and what is vermiculite and the others? so pretty much all i do is once there laid take them out put them in a container then put them in a place that is 77-79, what about humidity?

you don want it too humid or they will mold..

you can get vermiculite in the gardening section at a home depot/lowes store.

its ok if temps are a bit lower or higher than that, you just dont want your temps fluctutating alot.

if your substrate gets dry, just pour a bit of water in, (not on the eggs, around them) and it will get soaked up.

i use a plastic bin, abotu the size of a shoe box, that has slits cut into the lid to let air in and out.

i have them in my cham room closet.

that sounds easy enough... the spot i have planned will be perfect then im excited :) my first try at hatching eggs i hope i can hatch them! ive been wanting to since i got chameleons but i thought to wait a couple years.. but the opertunity presented itself how could i say no. i just hope the momma is okay and will be able to lay all her eggs fine, its kinda strange for a guy to sell all his pregnant females but he sold me my male and he owns the best pet store in my valley so.. ill give it a shot. what should i look for in the female? she looks gravid but are there any warning signs i should look for before i actually get her? is there any sickness they can have or signs of egg bound? i know nothing about panthers... my area is mellers chameleon ha

well i got my guy at the expo sep 29 and he is the father so right before i bought him is when they mated.. so shes been gravid for a couple months, he told me usually 3-5 months is how long there gravid and he has two other females that are a lot bigger then her. the only problem is he had a female that was a biter and bit off one of the females tail and some of the females tail that i was thinking of getting, my male has some tail bites too i was worried it would turn to tail rot but it healed and he just has a scare there. so im not sure there in the best environment. but the female looked fine was moving around she was going to the bottom so she might be ready to lay soon if she hasnt already.
