so i have a friend who is getting started in her own photography buisness (professional) and so far she is doing very well for herself but she wants to get into photographing exotic pets so im gettin my chameleons & i done with real pictures & what not on monday, she is asking me to come up with ideas or "poses" or just anything that will be eye catching i suppose and im just not the creative person to come up with such things , i told her i want to do it outside so my chameleons arent such stinkers to get their pics taken :p but i guess what im asking is that anyone have any ideas for a "poses" or just anything in general :D

I think you need to be very careful if you try an outdoor shoot. I'd bring along an extra person who's job is just to watch the chameleons. They can vanish in the blink of an eye. You may think they are slow moving, but when they want to get away and see the chance, they bolt. Both you and the photographer will look away. You will probably look at the camera and she will be looking between the chameleons and you.

Having said that, consider a picture in which you are interacting with your chameleons. It sort of sounds like they aren't the lovey dovey type so you might not be able to do a jannb pic of you kissing the chameleon, but maybe you can be holding an interesting feeder?

Will you be doing a picture with multiple chameleons or separate pictures with each chameleon? You might get more spectacular colors putting them together, but that might add to the challenges of an outdoor shoot. As this is a trial shoot to benefit the photographer, I think you can suggest a lot of pictures. I would suggest starting with portraits with each animal separately and then, if it's going well, consider a group picture.

oh yes my one female veiled (ruru) stays in a very large birdcage seeing as she hates the screen cages with a passion, but anyways i was moving and had her on the porch and she squeezed her way out and was halfway up a tree within 2 minutes of being outside the house, but my main reason is i have a male panther that i absolutely LOVE he is soo stunning at times but he hates human beings or anyone being near him period, i can put food in for him and mist him and thats about all he tolerates lol but whenever i take him outside cage and all he seems to be more calm and i can atleast hold him for a few minutes before he starts biting and twisting and turning. i have thought about getting seeing if i can get the classic "tongue shot" picture but im not sure how that will go with the panther, but i could do it with both my male and female veileds they are as sweet as pie. i really like jannb's pic  i might do something like that :) im going to see if she will do multiple shots of each of them and just pic out the best one out of the group. thank you for the great advice!!!

Well a Chameleon is interesting enough really, but if you get them displaying and climbing (reaching for the sky is a good one.....) they are at their best really :).

Glad to see you are back! :) Your little I mean big guy is so blue!! :D

Definitely the second one. The first one is actually out of focus (though, maybe there's a better file?). The second is also much more dramatic and has great eye contact between the camera and the chameleon. It could stand to be cropped from the left. She should consider making it a vertical.

Here's a possible crop.

the actual photo of the first one is better, i scanned and put it to facebook then on here so im sure it has been compromised lol, by vertical u mean rotate the photo to the left and crop it so my little big man is in the center?

thank you all for the advice/ criticism its all very welcome again she is just starting her business so anything at all even the littlest comment will be helpful :)

Even if the other is in focus, the second has more drama. I did a sample crop for you that, I think, highlights your chameleon very nicely.

i didnt even notice the attachment :O
it does look good ... she has lots and lots more pics of all my other chams and even a couple horses but those two ended up being my favorites:)
