I have read tons of posts about hunger strikes and I am a little reassured that my 7ish-month old veiled won't wither away. For about a week or two Grog has turned up his nose at dubia (nothing new-- the colony grows and grows), crickets (used to be his main food source), as well as superworms and even his treats-- waxworm moths and mealworms. But the odd thing is, he still relishes his veggies. If I put slivers of red pepper or sweet potato or carrot on his pothos, he gobbles them right up (doesn't like greens).
Anyone else have this happen? Could it be that there are nutrients his body needs that the veggies are providing or should I not trust him to make his own nutritional choices?I also like that the drenched veggies help hydrate him (he's not a big drinker) but I'm wondering....
QUESTION: Should I suspend his veggies until he's back on bugs?
We're pretty new to this awesome forum-- there's more info on Grog here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/tastes-freedom-desirable-if-they-make-cage-time-miserable-129913/
Thanks!
