How do I know whats too fat, too skinny, or edemetous?

Sometimes reading other peoples posts causes me paranoia. Not that I'm really worried about my guy, but I'm wondering if all of these conditions are pretty obvious? Would I be able to recognize If I was over or underfeeding? Sometimes when he's stretchy he looks rather slim, and when he puffs at me he goes from a fatty to emaciated to fatty again...and what is this edema people are talking about? I'm a nurse, so I understand edema in humans. Trying to imagine edema in a reptile and I'm just seeing a fat reptile.

Oh, I apologize, having just tried again I am realizing that it wasn't your links that failed, it was the links within the threads you linked to me! LOL. I followed until I found one that had photos of fat pads, etc, and the links to the photos failed.
