Your Console - PS3, about 4 years old, bought it since new
Handling - use it everyday to watch netflix
Feeding - 110v
Supplements - I use a Sony brand remote instead of the controller for netflix and movies
Watering - Never gotten wet
Fecal Description - some dust comes out the back when the fan is blowing
History - I once dropped it from 2 feet

I think my PS3 might be dying, when I power it up the first time it blinks red but after the second time it powers up. I think my PS3 might be on it's way out, anyone have experience with this? anything i could do?

Do you quit netflix before shutting down? If not that could be your problem. Always quit netflix to dashboard then shutdown. Nextflix caches a lot of date which can cause issues if not cleared.

Secondly get a can of compressed air and blow out all the dust, remove the hard drive cover and pull out the drive and blow out the compartment and connectors, also do the same for the power cable and video cables. Next wipe down the touch sensors on the front. If they are dusty the can cause that.

Thirdly the PS3 has a moisture sensor if it's humid it will also blink red.

omg nooooo i like the old breadbasket ps3 which is why i won't get the new slim!!! but yeah i had to get a new one waaaaay back due to the fact mine wouldn't play blu rays anymore!!! My heart goes with you cause nothing is more sad then a duck football loss or a gaming system taking its last breathe!!!

The problem you are describing is a known system death issue (mine is starting to do it too). It is similar to the XB360 Red Ring of Death.

What is strange is that it has been doing it for a month now. But every time I switch it on the second time it works :D
