I have a bin of sand in the bottom of the cage to monitor for digging and then a bigger one for her to actually to lay eggs in, does the bin of sand in the bottom of the cage need to be moistened like the bigger one is?

I don't usually moisten it until I see signs of digging...but being moist may make it more "attractive" to some females.

I put mine in a planter with some drainage at the bottom and it gets wet when misting but since it drains a little it never gets too wet. That said, my female dug in a plant. But the soil was wet there as well.
