Fumes and our chameleon

Hi!

We are looking for some advice- we recently purchased a cabinet for our new chameleon enclosure to sit in, and we stained it (an oil based stain, I believe). We love the finished product, but the fumes still seem to be hanging around and we are unsure if we should put our cham in there. it has been five days since we finished the staining, and I can still smell the stain. We are unable to open our windows as it is -30 outside, but we have a fan blowing in the room continuously.

Should I be worried about the fumes even 5 days later? Should I wait longer to put him in his new enclosure? I am just worried because he will essentialy be "in" the cabinet (theres a wooden bottom piece, then his mesh cage, then a wooden topper).

Thank you!

You just have to wait for the stain to cure...no smell. Especially for oil-based products. Petroleum product fumes can be harmful especially in a closed in space. And, it would need to cure before you could expose the wood to moisture anyway.
