Fruitflies Question

I would like to add more variety to my 6 month veiled's diet. I was thinking of fruitflies. Im wondering, is it okay If I leave a banana peel or an apple in the cham's cage and wait for it to have a lot of fruitflies and then he can zap them off the air? I have tried giving him grated apples before and he doesnt touch the stuff. So, there wouldnt be the risk of him eating rotten apple (Is that bad for them, its a reptile! it should be able to digest rotten fruit! right?) Any comments would be much appreciated.

Howdy,

A 6 month old Veiled won't have interest in or get much nutrition from fruit flies. You could try the regular flies from places like www.grubco.com. Avoid using wild flies since they will carry health issues with them.
