Foggers...Opinions?...

So foggers, how does everyone feel abouth them? (In addition to misting of course). Im really trying to keep up high humidity and in this intense heat we've been having in So Cal has made it rather difficult. Do you guys feel foggers do a decent enough job? I've heard the extreme opposite opinions on them.

i love mine it throws out close to 4 gallons of water in a 12 hour period through the cage and i live in vegas and keeps the humidity up when i can mist due to school or work and it isn't a misting system but it allows plenty of water to collect on leaves and my veiled likes to sit underneath it when it kicks on in the morning

Hey what the heck are you using??? I really need the make, model etc. I currently have 2 , my second set, first set died. I use the Zoo Med repti foggers for my quads but they are a pain in the ass!!!!!!! The water collects in the hoses and has to be shook out, if the water gets into the unit it burns out, this is the unit the hose sits on delivering the water. I am just not happy replacing these every 4 months. Even when they should they sure don't give thses things away even at LLL.

bear with me and the bad grammer etc,..... bad hangover from a punk show lol

go to target and buy the penguin humdifier

there are a couple ways to do this and im at work so dont have my laptop i got way to drunk last night and was late for work today so i forgot basically everything :/ lol oh well ill help u the best i can from here......... cushcameleon made one where i started my bases but i moved in a slight stronger upgrade

https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/cushcameleon/134-diy-humidifier.html#comment211

instead of the pvc and hot glue to the recently decapitated penguin i spend a couple more bucks and bought something similar to this but with no hole make sure its the metal one and not the plastic one as it wont hold the weight of the pvc pipe

http://www.homedepot.com/Building-Materials-Plumbing-Pipe-Fittings/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5Zarr3/R-100452590/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

found in the plumbing isle it has to 4 inchs in diameter and then used a two part epoxy dont remember the name............... damn hangover

then find what size pvc u want i chose half inch my feeling for flow but trust me it would pump up to 5 inch piping (it took forever for it to top the 3 foot section but i was bored lol) find a screw style connector and what ever bends and piping u need to facilitate ur needs

then drill out the top and and using the two part epoxy screw the screw style end pvc end into the stainless steel top as this is where u can easily pop off the plumbing * dont glue this it wont leak and makes filling up the resovior easier* and bam done let it air out as the epoxy will probably have an effect on ur chams until it is dry once it is, its water proof blah blah blah that whole spill and make sure to glue the bends cause i didnt and it totally effed my dresser up as the pipe running behind it was dripping and it didnt do that in the test run lol but yea i did it a little different due to my impatient of out of stock parts and didnt want to wait two days for the shipment but either way will work and keep u happy.

*note*
u have to clean the base out very often as i do it every 3 days as it will grow bacteria and other fun stuff but it doesnt take long and is very easy to do and well worth seeing ur cham sitting in a ghost on his branch

also you can do as i have a second one for my amazon tree boa is to cut a hole using a hole drill but and u can then hot glue epoxy whatever but add a large car oil funnel and that also makes filling this thing up so much easier but make sure to stuff a paper towel in it when not filling so nothing falls down into it

also only use ro water or of the same quality as i destroyed one because of regular tap water clogs the disc that emit the high frequncy waves to produce the ultra sonic mist

any problems or watever just pm me or post

Dinky are you for real? I could have bought a $40 humidifer and with a little work it would be better that the ones I keep dropping $70 each on? Where have you been? I am ordering the penguin online today, Thanks and I may have more questions.:D

well getting way too drunk at some punk show but i have shop in my garage side yard and i like modifiy stuff and if you really wanna try it you can modifiy this baby too put out some serious fog but i want to try a fog bar new idea i think

take the pvc and make it the length of the cage and hide it behing the light then slice a stiaght line down the entire side about 3-7 mm depend on flow and hopefully you get a wall of fog that will sit in the back of your cage and my veiled will be enjoying a waterfall of fog or sorts that and i want to plumb it so it shoots out of my pothos hanging in the corner of the cage lol

but i dont take all the credit someone made this before me i just made it my own lol

which fogger where u buying?

check out the penguin in action. it's what i have been using for a long time, i no longer use it with that veiled though-that was just for show. go to youtube its called failmeetsmist

haha found a picture lol means my hangover is leaving lol this is a photo i took for a memeber of my snake forum and this is roughly halve power before i modded it so i would say this is pumping out 1/4 of gallon/12hours of water and it will run on this for 2 and 1/2 days at this rate

i dont even use a dripper setup anymore because the fogger makes enough to keep my veiled hydrated

This is a great idea! I am going to target to get one of these. Where I live Geographically speaking this would eliminate dripping and misting for me. It would give me plenty of hydration for sure.

it would eliminate the drip but misting is still required tho i dont need to water my plants anymore cause i lack a mistking and hate everyone that has one lol but yea it makes it so i mist when i wake up and when i go to bed other than that would be over kill

and i highly suggest drilling the hole for the funnel it makes filling this thing up a lot easier

Yea, I had the habba fogger to....broke of course........I use the tubing it came with and flange, took off my humidifiers directional spout, taped the flange on and just use the tubing........only good for 1 cage though........

hey fear just hard plumb that and u could run it around many cages as i have one that pumps three 45 gallon aquarium and it keeps them all at 90 plus all day long the key is pvc and equal length pipes all around

Oh I know, Im just to damn lazy.....lol and plus, these cages r inside temp. cause its to hot for the montanes outside right now.....but they will be going back out tomorrow or Tues.

I've always understood foggers to be bad for a chameleon's health as the moisture molecules it produces are so minute they can actually be inhaled by the cham which can lead to respiratory tract irritation and/or respiratory disease...

yea not to concerned about that as the amount of air that runs thought the cage but i would be if i ahd the chameleon in one of my 45 gallon tanks cause the mist actually stays in there fairly well and build like fog but he usely just gets water and sits under for a bit when it kicks on. i have it only for halve the cage so he does and will escape from the fog and do his own thing

i've actually been told the opposite by my vet. he said they need to breath it in as it helps prevent respiratory track infections.

yes and no ill post a pic of my aquarium when i get home from work but the fog is made by a disc produce ultrasonic vibrations like the sonic care toothbrush and it bonds pretty well with the air and creates a sort of fog but when u use it with no ventilation it will fill the structure and this is where it can become a problem but other than that you should be fine unless he is trying to get a coke high off ur humdifier
