Is there any difference between a 6500k flourescent light and a 2700k flourescent light besides the colour of the light? i have been trying to locate a 18inch 6500k t8 light for my plants but have not been able to find one so I bought a 2700k t8 plant and aquarium tube (it says it is the optimal spectrum of light for growing plants) and was just wondering which is better and why?

Do the math on the Kelvins, and your getting more than twice the light. Getting closer to natural sunlight, which encourages more plant growth.

agreed. the 65k is much better than those you often find labeled for aquariums and plants. Try hydroponics shops for the 65k tubes. You can also get CFL 65k plant lights that work equally well.

Still the 2700k is better than nothing :)
