First clutch, couple questions!

My Panther just laid her first clutch successfully! 24 eggs in total! Is that a pretty large sized clutch? Not sure what the average is, but she seems great considering she dug for a whole day! Not too dirty, doesn't seem too exhausted from the experience, and she looks a million times better than before we put her in the laying bin!

She didn't seem to reall show any gravid colors the only signs were a slightly enlarged belly and her eyes looked a little baggy. I know it's different with every Cham, but is there any sure ways to tell for next time? We just kind of guessed and stuck her in the laying bin yesterday morning. I do have a scale but it's hard to keep her still enough to get an accurate reading, she just wants to climb everywhere.

I always recommend that you have a suitable place (opaque container, at least 12" deep x12" x 8" full if washed playsand) for an egglaying female to dig in her cage at all times so you will know when she needs to lay egg.

Already have one, she didn't use it at all and she wasn't pacing around looking for a place to dig either, it was just a big guess because her stomach looked a little pudgy and she had slightly baggy eyes.

Just worried that I'll have to keep guessing because she really didn't show any signs.

Hopefully she'll give you a sign next time. All you can do is provide the proper place and watch for the signs that she's getting near...roaming, drinking more, sometimes decreased eating.etc.
