First bite...

While my girlfriend and I were cleaning his viv out( she handles I clean and re-arrange). She went to pick him up from behind and got a little nip.
didn't break skin (he's only 4 months)
I am wondering why I can't view "how to handle a cham" videos.
I am at work and you tube is blocked, could that be why?
I wanted to show her this video to prevent further stress for cham.
He was black for two days after "the incident".

Well, i can tell you right now that chams HATE being grabbed from behind, your suppose to put your hand under their chin and slowly pick them up and let them crawl onto your hand.

Maybe use a glove so it isn't so scary if your afraid to get bit

If you absolutely have to pick them up from behind as a last resort, wait until they puff up and turn around to look at you, then put your fingers underneath him from the opposite side of where their head is looking and lift gently, don't grab or squeeze or they might bite.

My favorite is when mine puffs up with air and gets pissy like he may bite, and he eventually gets on my hand anyway, he lets out a big sigh and deflates and becomes kind of mellow.

Thanks for the replies.
He DOES NOT like to be touched period. We use a stick to take him out and
after that he seems to calm down, and just sit green on your arm.
I was putting bigger sticks in after a cleaning and not paying much attention
to them..until she screamed
I want her to watch the video on handling but can't get it to come up.
does anyone know of a different source for the handling video?(you tube blocked)

You should leave him in the cage while you are cleaning. If he doesn't like being grabbed, why would you grab him? Get him to climb to the top of the cage, and take the plants out, its stressful, but not as much as taking him out of the cage.

To me, at least in my opinion.. ID rather My cham be stressed for 30 seconds by getting him out and then calming down, than have him stressed for 10 minutes while I am taking his crap out and cleaning while he is hanging on the side of his cage pissed

They said they rearrange things, so, it would be more stressful in my opinion.

I always found that "cleaning time" was the perfect time to take my cham outside for some natural sunlight or some time in the shower/steam. I see it as killing two birds with one stone and less overall stress for them.

Linkin-She had a "brain fart". I've told her how to handle him but she panicked and thought he was stuck in the couch. We do leave him inside for cleanings but this time was a full re-vamp of all sticks and plants.
Chamero-The outside thing is a great idea but we had 6" of snow and below 0 temps outside. (Canada eh!)
I'm going to purchase an extra plant for him to sit in for this as all my plants are poisonous.
I'm still wondering if there is another source for the handling video?

yeah you should defenitally not re arange thier cages.... they hate that just put all the branches in last and tape them together... and just fluff you plants around them for hidiing spots.
