well my new lil man finally drank last night and this morning...he also just ate his 1st cricket!!! :D

yeah...i was worried....when i feed my other chameleon i would put the crickets /roaches in a container....but this lil guy wants to catch them himself....

its like seeing your baby take his/her 1st steps....lol....he ate drank and pooped...now i know he is getting used to his new home....:D

yeah drinking is always cool to see the first time....chameleons are such secrative drinkers

my last chameleon drank out one of those water bottles that hamsters use...lol...id just have to squeeze it.....he drank from leaves as well.....but it was cute....about how many crickets should he be eating? he is 5 months old....so far i think he ate 3 that i seen......and how often should i dust them?

Stole this from another member its one of ther best laid out schedule I've seen.

Pssh Hope you don't mind, I just really like the way you explained this

Yes. I use a cup and plop the crickets in then shake them around in a
pinch sized amount of dust. They should only be slightly lighter than before they were dusted.

Here's my schedule:

Week1:
mon-fri: calcium w/o d3
sat: none
sun: calcium w/ d3

week 2:
mon-fri: calcium w/o d3
sat: none
sun: multivitamins

week 3:
repeat week 1

week 4:
repeat week 2

the stuff i have is herpcare cricket dust and rep-cal phos-free calcium with d3....it say on the herpcare box that its has vitamins minerals and amino acids....so i need to buy dust with no d3 in it at all? what kind of multivitamin do you recommend? actually if you could can you list the names of what i need or is the stuff i have ok?

...depending on the size of both cham and cricket. At five months old, I would expect he might eat 8-10 1/2-3/4 inch crickets (depending on his own size). My guy had reached close to adult size by 7-8 months, was on 1 inch+ crickets, and as the growth had slowed down, so had the eating (maybe five a day, and maybe not eating every day). It's good to vary the mix a bit with some other bugs - he's probably a little small for superworms yet, but silkworms, phoenix worms, waxworms (yeah, I know they're fatty - the Big Mac of the chameleon world - but they're a good size for smaller chams, and they do love them - only an occasional treat, though), roach nymphs, etc. are all good options. When mine was growing, I'd try to give something other than crickets twice a week.

i know they love silk worms as well..i would get eggs and incubate them they grow them to size....im breeding dubia roaches as well but right now all i have are big adults and tiny babies.....
