Eye popping?????

I have a six month old panther Chameleon and I am trying to figure out this "eye popping" thing he does. He rubs his eye on one of the vines in his cage and then "pops" or bulges his eye. He doesn't do it alot but it freaks me out when he does it. It seems like each time he does it that he sheds in the next day or so. But I am not sure if this is just coincidence or what. He is very healthy and it doesn't look like it hurts him or anything. Does anyone know anything about this?

i dont know about it, but i think its normal, 2 panthers that ive had have done that, and one veiled also

My veiled does it as well.... my vet says that it's normal for them.

they're cleaning their eyes.

You may want to increase your misting cycles as your cham may either be trying to clear some kind of irritation in his eye, or like you said he may be trying to start a shed. either way the increased moisture will help with both.

Also watch for discharge from his eye Just in case.

My Panther does it often, one eye at a time. Totally freaks me out! lol
