Diy Incubator

Wow bud! That looks quite interesting and functional!

How long have you been using that setup? and what is your hatch rate? Oh yeah, and how much for a kit? :D Please list parts if you dont mind. Thanks!

Jim

I built it out of 1/4" acrylic and an aquarium heater.
The lower part is filled with water.
All 54 eggs hatched!!

That is awesome! I do all my incubators myself too :)
Yours is great and I appreciate the different pics and explanations of everything.

THanks for sharing and I hope it works perfectly for you!

Is the bootom isolated from the top? or does it used to provide moisture?
What did you use to seal the cord going into the heater? Can the heater be accessed to adjust temps?

Thanks for the great idea.

Kevin

OOPS that was supposed to be bottom not bootom...

LONG day yesterday.

Kevin

Do you have any better pics or description of this. I will be trying to build one and think that this is a great idea.

Thanks,
Kevin

the lower half is full of water with a aquarium heater inside.
the top part is filled with vermiculite and the sides are wraped in syrofoam.

How do you adjust the temp? Is the bottom half totally sealed from the top or can air/humidity pass between the two?

Thanks for reposting the pics.

Kevin

The bottom is sealed from the top.
The temp. is set at 75, thats what I set it at to hatch panther eggs.
You can use a temp. controller to have a cool down period.
All 54 eggs hatched in 8 months @ 75 deg. f.

Cool. I wasn't sure if you used the water to keep the humidity up or if you just added water to the media manually if needed.

Thanks a ton for a great idea.

Kevin
