if its not night time or quite dark your cham should not really be closing his eyes for any period of time. if its dark and night time and his eyes are closed hes most likely sleeping. some are deeper sleepers then others, my veiled camo could sleeop through a disco party but my panther gizmo will wake up from the tv flickering.
generally they sleep when its dark at night and if he is closing his eyes or sleeping at other times you may need to review your husbandry techniques.

Hahaha , but is there a way to tell?

When the lights are off and the temp cools down, the cham's metabolism drops and they sleep. If lights are on and the temps are warm, a healthy cham will not really be able to sleep. If your cham is sitting still with BOTH eyes shut during the day it is sick.
