Could you critique molly's cage? I do no yet have a UVB, I will hopefully be getting one withing the next few days from Jann =) Thank you so much again! The temp at the highest point is around 75-80, lowest point is 70 (my house temp). I mist by hand. There is a geranium, a bean plant I brought in for the winter, and some other plant I can't remember the name of that is safe. She doesn't eat her plants.

You def need more climbing branches. Maybe try a nice umbrella plant or ficus. Chameleons like to have plants they can climb around on that provide a place to hide and you have nothing she can hide under. Also you want leaves that she will be able to lick water drops off of.

You already know about the Uvb light and Im sure that Jann wont give you a coil one!

You will want to get rid of the substrate thats at the bottom. Even though its just coconut husk your feeders will hide in it and then more then likely escape since the cage has openings big enough for a large cricket to get out of.

I also see that you have her cage next to another animals cage(possibly your bearded dragon). Chameleons are solitary animlas so whatever is in the cage might stress her out. If you want to leave the cage there, try putting something in between the cage as a barrier to block her from seeing the other animal. Paper towles work a piece of a cardboard box....Im sure you can find soemthing lying around the house!

A few more branches too. I believe that your cham is partially blind? If she needs to be hand fed, then you can probably get away with the substrate. Also, does she tend to fall a lot? I know some members use coconut husk for very old chams that fall so they dont hurt themselves. If thats the case then I'd leave it in. However, if she doesn't fall, I'd just take it out anyways. It just makes things harder to clean up.

She hasn't fallen yet but she's come close. The geranium and dracaena are safe, I just don't know about the bean plant. I will make more spots for her to explore and possibly hide. She is hand fed so I don't have feeders crawling around, no need to worry about her accidentally snatching some up either. Yes she is blind too. I will also put more branches in there for her.

How about you put a layer of fiberglass screen over it so she can't eat it, but should she fall it will still lessen the blow. I agree, however, with taking out the bean plant.

My snake are in there but they rarely come out of their hiding spot, and she can't exactly see very well as it is... But I will find a barrier

It isn't a for sure yes she will. Also, they don't eat random things for no apparent reason. It is instinct for them to eat plant matter when thirsty. In some veileds this instinct is strong and they will eat alot of plant matter, some just like the taste, some will eat a little when thirsty, and some won't eat any at all. Though I also agree with taking out the plants that you don't know are safe.

Also, a few days without uvb will not cause mbd in itself. Sure, it's not best but if you get the uvb set up in a few days i don't think you will have a problem unless the chameleon has already gone a long time without it.

I think the bird cage is fine for Molly since you don't free range feeders and her nails wont get caught like they do in the screen. I would take out the plant that you are not sure about and as soon as your able try to get a pothos. They hold water well and keep up the humidity in the cage, plus they don't require allot of sunlight and do well inside.

I would take the stuff out of the bottom if it were me and just keep some paper towels or nothing on the bottom.

When you can add a few more horizonal vines or branches.

If you ever have a day that's nice enought get Molly out for some natural sun light. That's the best thing you could do for her.

okay yeah I will take the soil out tonight, thinking about it, it probably would be easier to clean lol. I will also take out the bean plant.
