Comet laid her eggs!

She was bred to Bruce (FL WC Veiled) 5/01 and is as I type stamping down the EcoEarth over her eggs. Since it has only been 20 days I am sure hoping they are fertile! Anyone want to venture a guess on how many eggs? :p

Hello, and congratulations....is it your first batch? Is it your Chams first batch? Am guessing 42.

Thanks everyone and far from my first batch. It is however my first clutch from this pairing. It was 28, and it looks to be infertile. I was worried about that since she started digging at 17 days gestation. There are a few that are better shelled, so I will incubate everything until it molds over.

Damn I am sorry they don't look good. I have 26deremensis eggs I had not planned on, from when I took in a cham I planned on giving Luis. Before I got her ready to go she dropped the eggs. It looks like they are fertile. Want a couple when/if they hatch? Any thing for my buds.:D

I guessed high because you seemed quite pleased with yourself....I guess if you've got experience it's easier to take when they're infertile. Had a couple of phantom pregnancies in a Veiled before, and it's horrible when it moulds over. Knew there was no sex, but couldn't help hoping for parthenogenesis. Good luck :)

It is always good to guess high with a Veiled! My first clutch was 81! 69 eggs made it to term and 69 eggs hatched! Many forum members have those babies that are now almost 3 years old! I just hate for a female to go through all of that work for nothing.

LOL Laurie-I fear you will have no issues finding homes for those guys-they are insanely cute when they hatch!:p

I guess my clutches were low before due in part to the unfortunate spinal disability my Cham had. Have read that they get good numbers. Should have better myself in a year and a half as I aim for breeding for the first time

Nothing wrong with small clutches! They are easier on the female, so study up on controlling temps and feeding for female Veileds.

Will do. My female is only 5 months, and my male 8 months so it'll be hard but I need to be patient, breed no earlier than 10 months, and make sure she's in peak condition before any introduction. Been busy converting a mahogany wardrobe into a near perfect viv. Will have an MV bulb and 3ft uv strip light too, before I move her in with him.
