ive been trying to get my chameleon comfortable with me i leave the cage door open while watching him and once he got used to that i tryed picking him up which he didnt mind too much but once i got him out he trys to run away from me and then for the first time he hissed at me very scary my question is what is too much how much should i try and when should i stop i dont want to stress him out he seems fine just doesnt like when hes out

Most chams don't like to be handled...how much depends on the individual. Hissing is a pretty typical reaction so you just have to expect it. Most of the time they don't follow through with a bite. After all, your cham sees you as either a huge potential predator, or at the least a big intruder in its territory. They can get used to seeing you, but don't expect them to "like" being picked up. You can get your cham to accept your presence by hand feeding it favorite foods.

Oh, a little posting tip: please use basic punctuation in your posts. One long run-on text sentence is very hard to read without it and some folks may not bother to respond.

when practical its better to let them crawl onto a branch or your hand, rather than picking them up, if you are looking for an animal to bond with, a cham is probably not the best choice , any perception of bonding is likely more in your mind than his
