Camille's eggs (43 of them) are they fertile?

This is the trash can my husband set up for Camille to lay her eggs in after refusing her laying bins. Do the eggs look fertile? My husband thinks they do. One was real little and one was long and skinny.

The only thing I don't understand with using these large trash cans is how you get the eggs out of there. It was a pain to get them out carefully from the small laying bin we used. I can only imagine reaching down the big trashcan and trying not to hurt the eggs.

Congrats on the eggs :) Hopefully you'll have 43 dancing baby chameleons running around at the beginning of next year.

43 eggs! Whew! Camille is probably happy to get them all out, safe and sound. She was looking big so Im not surprised it was a big clutch. Hope she is doing well... and congrats on the eggs, they look good!

Thanks everyone!!!! She seems to be doing well. Sunday her weight was 194 grams and after laying the eggs this morning she's down to 137 grams. She will be getting all the food that she wants for the next few days. Jann

I am just curious.... but what do you do with ~43 newborn lizards?
These ones hatched starting in late March, and she raised them with a lot of TLC and crickets and fruit flies. All but one have gone to new homes, and that last one will be coming to me in the next couple weeks.:D
Here's when they hatched, and at one month old; if you do a search for threads started by jannb, you'll see a lot of their progression and moving out into the world.

I ended up with 27 babies. Luie and Camille mated late in Camille's cycle and a couple of weeks after the eggs were laid all but 27 went bad (molded over and caved in). All 27 eggs hatched into beautiful little veiled babies and I was fortunate enough to find good homes for all 27 of them. My last female baby is so lucky to go to a wonderful free range home with Heather (hallenhe above). Thank you Heather! I know you have allot going on with your new job and your move. It has been a pleasure to enjoy her a couple of extra months.

My heart is happy with excitement to think that there will be more Luie and Camille babies. It was so nice to see their first born babies grow and move on to their new homes - and now the saga continues.....................

Amanda, no more breeding at my house....just too risky for Camille. However Camille did lay a retained clutch and 5 of the eggs are big, white and growing. In a couple more months I might have 5 more babies. :)
