Best Isopod

Hello folks. I am looking at setting up a colony of Isopods and am looking for advice on the best species for chams as well as a good source. I am thinking that whichever species grows the largest would probably be best.

I see smallpetfeeders has white dwarf (probably too small) and Costa Rican Purple isopods. Would either of these be adequate for an adult panther?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

correct - not the tropical dwarfs. Go with Oniscus asellus or Porcellio Scaber or Cylisticus Convexus or Armadillidium

Sandra, would you suggest
http://www.nilesbio.com/prod95.html over http://www.nilesbio.com/subcat293.html ?

What is the difference between the two? I figured I'd buy the dark gray ones since they are like the type around here but now I don't know (since you suggested the other type)

um. the second link goes to brine shrimp? you didn't mean those, Im sure.
If you mean between Pillbugs and Sowbugs, either works. Mine eat both readily. I breed both in the same way.

Whoops! Yes I meant to put a link of the pillbugs. Are these wild like the snails are from them?

These are both good sites to purchase from and another is Double D's. I would suggest you call and speak with Dexter as he is full of good tips and information.
E-mail : [email protected] / Phone: 760-295-3982. I have purchased 4 types of isopod from him as well as many other feeders. Good prices also!

Did not see piggletts post before I posted this :<(

If one would chose to breed more than one type of these isopods, could they all go in the same bin or do they each need separate bins?
