A neighbor was asking me today why the blue chameleon on my arm had not changed color to blend in with my yellow sweater. I could have just said he was ornery (which he is), but I explained about color changing primarily for communication purposes, and not so much for camouflage. He seemed interested to know it (though his five year old son remained unconvinced).
