Has anyone ver seen a baby panther chameleon be so small. We hatched our little guy after having the egg for 11 months. He had a difficult time coming out of his egg so we had to assist him. He eats alot and poops look healthy. Hes very active but only weighs 8gm

Hey there welcome to the forum. Do you have more pics? Not sure that is a male so I would love to see some pics where I can see the tail base to confirm gender. When was the hatch date? Even for a female 8 grams would be way too low for a female of 10 months. I would suggest getting a fecal tested to rule out a parasite load. This is what we most commonly see with very low weight chams and the cause of them not reaching their growth potential.

Ya we’re not sure of the gender. No parasites we had that checked. He was hatched August 6 2023

So I am very much seeing a little girl. There is absolutely no hemipenal bulge to indicate male.

Did you run multiple fecal tests spaced out a few weeks apart? Parasites will run in cycles so you can easily get a false negative if the fecal is tested when they are not producing oocysts.

Ok good to know we always wondered the gender we just always say he.yes we did the test few weeks apart vet can’t explain why he’s so small.

If the fecals are coming back negative every time they run them then I would say it more than likely has to do with the genetics. Unless there are aspects in husbandry that are off and effecting overall growth. But even with that I would doubt it and lean to a genetic issue. Hopefully with her being so tiny her reproductive organs do not kick in... I would be very concerned about one this tiny trying to produce eggs. But that is for sure a female and not a male. You would see a slight bulge at the very least even with one this small.
