How soon to gutload bugs before feeding?

I was wondering if I need to give food to my bugs within a particular time before giving them to my chameleon. I didn’t think ahead and forgot to feed the bugs last night but today is Lenny’s feeding day. I gave the bugs about 4 hrs earlier, is it ok to just give him them now?

Veiled chameleon’s eyes closed during the day

I noticed that my chameleon had his eyes closed during the day. It is about 6 and lights turn off at 7. He doesn’t seem to be fully sleeping because as soon as he heard me walk into the room he opened his eyes again. Which he doesn’t do around 9 when I go into the room to feed my hamster. Is...

I had a little escape artist this morning!

I was trying to feed some dubia roaches and my chameleon got two in his mouth and one managed to crawl out. It took me quite a while to catch this free roaming roach but it was pretty satisfying when Lenny finally ate it. ( the roach was only out for 5-10 minutes max )

I still have to remove a few little pieces, I wasn’t able to remove them at the time because he was right next to them and I didn’t want to disturb him. The only ones left are silk instead of hard plastic but I’ll make sure to get them out :)

I just adopted this boy from family that couldn’t take care of him. He’s my first reptile but I’m determined to give him the best life I can!

I don’t actually have the bulb yet, I just ordered it yesterday but it is a zoo med 5.0. The one currently being used is a T8 Zilla bulb. And I’ve only been misting him for a few seconds, I wasn’t sure how long or how often I should do it for. I also have a humidifier I can put by the enclosure...

Thanks! The enclosure is a large 18x18, the bulb is a reptisun 5.0, not sure which percentage but I think 6%

I think this is the husbandry form? I’m not sure where to answer so I thought I’d just put it here. Chameleon Info: Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Veiled, male, 2 1/2 years old, and 2 days Handling - How often do you handle...

    Basking branch

Thank you so much! This helps a lot. I was wondering what website is your favorite for live insects. Right now all I have is superworms and hornworms and I definitely want to get him a better supply. But my local petco doesn’t carry much.

His enclosure is clearly not ideal. It is what came with him from the past owner. I just put in a branch and his first live plant today, but I don’t want to add too much that will stress him out more. Oh, and if you guys have any recommendations on where to get live bugs I would really...

    Basking branch

Hi everyone! I just adopted a chameleon from family yesterday. The setup they had for him wasn’t the best so I’m trying to improve it and learn more. I just wanted to check that the height of his basking branch looked alright. The heat bulb that they were using is unfortunately 75w so that’s why...
