I'd definitely put the screen on the inside. But I'm scrapping the idea lol
Hubby and I are headed out to find solid wood unit that has good bone structure to rip apart and convert lol I can't stand these metal cages. They're too industrial looking 🙈
I have two female hatchlings that will need their own solitary enclosures. We are definitely building our own, and I've been pouring over design ideas. I found this cage being sold for only $100 bucks. It's 6ft tall, 4ft wide and 3ft deep. If I split it in half, it would give each girl a 2x3x6...
Should I not use the linear lights for hatchlings? Or just raising it more will be fine? I couldn't get that bulb and hood here for two weeks and I was so stressed I was going to end up with unhealthy babies. But now I'm question if I should put them under such a strong lamp? I'll go find that...
Our tiny one, Moon Star, is still on the fruit flies. She's not ready for the crickets unless they're pinheads. But the bigger one, Primm,is a voracious eater and hunter. Fruitflies don't do it for her. She is crazy for crickets and dubias. When I put in fruit flies she looks at me like...bitch...
That's such a relief...thank you so very much! There is soooo much conflicting information. In the last three weeks I have felt like a yoyo in my husbandry lol
Yeah..I've never been a fan of the CHEs...even for my desert dwelling repies. They're just too hot and a fire risk.
I have another dome on order. So I'll get a white light for heat in the next day or two. Basking never goes over 76 as it is now. So I'll keep the same wattage as the heat bulb I...
Thank you so much for replying. I do have their basking area 8 inches from the uvb. But only 3 inches if they screen climb. The heat lamp is a black, night time heat lamp that produces no real light. It's only 40w (I thought I had bought 60w..but remembered I opted for 40 so that they had that...
Because they're hatchlings...and my husband is part polar bear, I had to have a lightless heat lamp for night time. I get to set my alarm mid way to check the temps. They were dropping below 60. We've been cooler this week...but hitting triple digits again so I'll be battling the cold ac house...
Lights are raised. They are sitting off the cage on a frame I built. It's black, so you're not looking at the lights sitting on the cage. Their basking temp would be too cool if I lifted the lights any higher.
I originally posted an enclosure review here...
Thread 'New Enclosure...review pretty please' https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/new-enclosure-review-pretty-please.184212/
But, I only received harping on the size of an enclosure that doesn't even exist yet. I simply put in the minimum...
Thank you so much for posting this. At least I'm doing all the basic care for the babies accurately. I really appreciate you taking the time to post what you found. The babies are finally on pinhead crickets and can even take on 1/8 in. I still give them a mix of larger fruit flies and once a...
I'm finding it difficult and confusing with gaining help for hatchlings. Most all information are for Chams that are 3mo and older. I do realize that it's highly uncommon (and irresponsible of the breeder) to sell tiny hatchlings. I wished I'd known that sooner rather than later. But here I...
Y'all..I'm asking for reviews of this current enclosure. If there isn't anything I need to currently adjust, change or add, then it would kind of be appreciated to address that and THEN give me your opinions on the dang future enclosure size.
Thank you so much...A female minimum is 18x18x36. As I stated above...they will have at least their minimum or larger. We are custom building their enclosures
I finally got my Reptisun 5.0 linear bulb and hood...so I got the babies into their bigger enclosure. It's a 16x16x30. They will both get their own 18x18x36 or larger, as they mature. They're both 3 week old females.
I'd love any suggestions for something I may have missed.
The plants are...
Thank you 💚 She was planking for some pinhead crickets lol
Im seriously contemplating the whole silk worms thing instead. My cricket phobia will be too bad to handle once they're big. I can handle the pinheads and even hand feed them. Their so tiny and don't look like crickets lol
