Thanks I just wanted to say thanks so much to everyone who posted the nice words. I reallly appreciate it. The vet also said that 4.5 yrs is good for a chameleon... but I'm a perfectionist and always feel I could have done better. Now the question is when to get another...?

Thanks everyone.... I appreciate the kind words. Since he was diagnosed around 3 weeks ago I've been reading a ton and trying to figure out what I could have done differently.

As some of you know my 4 1/2 yr old panther chameleon Leon was diagnosed with very bad renal failure... He succumbed to his illness yesterday. I did everything I could to keep him comfortable in his last days... I'm very sad to lose him but glad that he won't suffer a poor quality of life. Here...

My panther used to do this often as well. I would notice he would do it a lot when I put him into a my females enclosure to breed. It seemed similar to a dog sniffing out an unfamliar scent...

Oh no! That sounds like he has some kind of prolapse. i would keep the tissue moist with moist paper towels and take him to a vet ASAP!!!!

To me it looks like she is starting to shed.... I would up the humidity and misting to help her along.

How did your Veiled get into your panther's cage? Are you sure it's not a burn? How long were they together? I would try to clean it with some betadine and then put a little baitracin on it... maybe take him to a vet? And keep them seperate of course!
