I re-homed my panther to a wonderful family, and the enclosure has been empty for about 4 months. Nighttime temps dip into the low 60's, and mist has been turned off. Only water is at the base of my single plant in there.
Switched out some electronics around the enclosure today, and this evening...
There are a ton of labs liquidating equipment this time of year.
Has anyone considered modding one of these sterilization animal enclosures for a reptile?
They are not all on the thousands, many are under $500 and have all sorts of crazy features like integrated outlets, sterilizing bulbs...
These tiny critters started appearing 3 days ago. They are not as of yet in my enclosure, just in the dubias. I have heard they can be symbiotic with dubias in certain situations but I am not comfortable feeding from this colont till I sort it out.
Please take a minute to look at the video...
I have been growing buzz buttons. a cool plant that is super healthy and produces a sensation like eating pop rocks when chewing flowers.
Put a leaf in with crickets I was flushing intestinal tract for pinworms and gut loading and it killed 2of 4.
It kills pinworms in the crickets I think...
So far does not look like they are on reptile or in enclosure just in Dubias. Do same mites that live with Dubias harass herps?
Should I treat with a product or just clean colony?
Lowering humidity and heat now.
Cause for alarm? Not going to feed any roaches till I sort this out.
Some info...
The Dragon Stand cages are the largest I can find. The #1 issue is that I need security against insects escaping. I have a custom enclosure now that I have tried reinforcing several times with extra caulk, a second layer of fine screen, etc. but 3-4 times a year a roach gets out and I have no...
My panther is a picky bastage, even when he is hungry he makes a whole production out of eating... so lately I have used a laser pointer dot on the bug, and even more successful and weird is that if I walk over to the enclosure and open my mouth and stick out my tongue like I am going to eat it...
This has been something on my mind a long time. Right now he is 2 years old and given extraordinary care. He is not hard to handle, but I don't handle him much. Does not hiss or get defensive. He has been reluctant to feed lately, but eats every day. He gets an extremely diverse diet of very...
There is condensation dripping down sides at least part of the day. No matter what kind of fresh fruit/veggies I put in there I get mold within about 24 hours.
I try to get cucumber, mango, carrots, etc. in there and my gut load is absurdly good, but I don't always have the time to remove food...
I am looking for a small fan that has variable speeds, moves at least 50cfm, and can be plugged in to AC.
Here are some parts to build one (maybe need to tweak one or two variables) and just representative of what I am thinking, if the power source/fan speed controls, and safety grills aren't...
Might be nice to meet some members in person if anyone is going.
I am 8 months without an automatic mister so think I finally have enough squirreled away for s Pro Mist model 60 with brass nozzles.
Not sure if we are allowed to talk about trades meeting up at a show, but I could definitely...
My 2 year old panther just started eating superworms- he refused them for the last 2 years, afraid of them even. Must have been bit as a hatchling or something.
Anyway, for those that are squeamish about these guys biting, all you have to do is run some cool/lukewarm water over them in a small...
Trying to collect names and anyone that can contribute to the project.
Some of you have this growing, and we could all benefit from anyone that has specific horticultural knowledge, willingness to swap, or ideas on rooting cuttings.
I have always had a "green thumb", but Madagascar Jasmine (...
Been posting about trying to rehome but I overthink thing a lot. How many breeding size - not biggest possible, but adult/breeding size (med?) dubias a week should an adult male panther eat?
My chameleon (about 350 grams) does not look skinny and I am gutloading to extremes- but is it possible...
Family can't deal with the bugs anymore, I have a custom cage I'll send with him,
lighting etc. stays with me.
I am sad about this but I can't ask my wife and kids to put up with the bugs anymore. Only 1-2 got out in the last year (Dubias) but it's still an issue. Not fair to the family- but...
My $179 vet bill today because of my chams puffy eyes was kinda a waste. Vet said he was a bit UNDERweight (and 'all said I should slow down on the food) : )
And that mild pinworm infection should probably not even be treated. He also said the eye puffiness was no big deal.
I started some...
The swelling in my panther's eyes is starting to worry me.
Thing is, he's always been like that, his feeders are very varied and always gut loaded to the max.
UV light is Arcadia 1 bulb UVB 12% and 1 natural daylight 2%.
He basks often and is thoroughly misted with distilled water all over at...
Maybe lazy, maybe dumb, almost sure it's not health related ...
He hits his target but fails to seal the deal about 3/4 of the time. Then often loses interest if a 2nd attempt also fails.
He is well fed and has been getting proper UV, supplements, and absurd variety of food (in comparison to...
I am attaching an info sheet for an idea I have to sell pre-gutloaded or I guess just gut loaded roaches really just to my local reptile store but maybe in the warmer months to others as well.
My ambilobe panther seems to be healthy just eating maybe 2 medium sized roaches a day supplemented...
