Firstly, I must apologise for anybody who see this and wants it, as its mine and you can't have it! :P
Anyway, as many of you will know, I've been making my latest (and greatest) enclosure for my panther chameleon Nero and I am proud to announce it is finally finish (building it in place took...
Well, given that I am coming close to finishing my new enclosure, I need to build a new light unit for it.
The general plan was to have a 4' UV tube, 3 plant growth compact bulbs and a halogen spot light for basking.
And without further hassle, here it is (apologies about the pictures...
Well, following on from this post: https://www.chameleonforums.com/protecting-wood-will-soil-89008/ given that my enclosure build is taking shape, I've got some time to get to building my tree idea...
So, this was the rough plan:
And here is the current output (please ignore the string...
Sadly it's not finished yet, but I have now joined all the bits together and it looks like this:
I'm pretty happy with it, but the wood used for the top has not all be the right size, so it's out here and there... Never mind, it works and can be reasonably easily fixed (with a...
All,
I'm currently building my Diego Suarez a new enclosure that is 6' x 4' x 8' (w x d x h) and wondered what people's thoughts were on the UV tube to use...
Given the size and height of the enclosure, I am leaning towards a reptisun 10.0 (as the tube will be across the middle of the top...
So, for a long time now I have had the idea of building a tree for my enclosures from various pieces of wood joined together so that it looks like an actual tree is in the enclosure (rather than just random branches here and there).
However, I can't think of a good/safe way to protect the...
Hi,
Just looking to see if anyone is using halogen light bulbs above their enclosures? I want to use 50W GU10 halogen lightbulbs and am looking at a simple halogen bulb holder hanging above the enclosure.
My main concern is that this will overheat (and quickly) so wanted to see if anyone...
Hi,
I have a spare RO booster pump and wondered if it can be used as a misting pump? It delivers the right pressure, but does it required the water to be supplied to it at pressure? Or would it work like any other misting pump?
Thanks!
Was looking around for information about taking schefflera cuttings, but couldn't find anything particularly helpful, so figured I'd have a bash and try using the method I did when I took a pothos cutting.
Which has turned out pretty well:
So yeah, basically, I had to trim down my...
Well, i keep bouncing between projects but this one has sort of stuck as something i might do!
Basically, i want to build a fake tree root. Something quite big to fill the back of a large cage. I think something along these lines (apologies that the 2nd pic is massive!):
Anyway, my...
It's that time of year again when I start to think of the next project..
As it stands, I'm looking at building a double enclosure that will fit nicely into a room 8' wide (so each enclosure will be 4' wide). Here's a preliminary draft idea:
The whole thing will stand 10' tall and fill...
Well, seeing as the weather is becoming fairly nice in the UK now, I figured i should set up an outdoor enclosure for my panther chameleon Nero! So here it is:
And the man himself!
Home time:
Vacation over:
Thanks for looking!
Sorry, I couldn't search for this as my search wouldn't work so i apologise upfront if this has been asked before!
Anyway, my question is: has anyone else noted that chameleons like to climb on the mesh of their enclosures when they get to around 1 year old? If so, why do you think they do...
I've searched around a bit and got nowhere looking for inspiration, so I thought I'd just make a thread!
The main thing I want to ask is what type of mesh do people use on their outdoor enclosures? I have some spare aluminium flyscreen mesh, but I don't think it is really robust enough to use...
In an attempt to snap a picture of my chameleon (who hates any camera with a passion) I've made a very make shift hide with things that are always lying around in his room!:
(sorry the pic is rubbish but it's taken on my iphone in very low light - why did they not put a flash on it? I know...
Right, having finished my last project, I needed another. I've always fancied breeding locusts (or trying to) and they need a better 'house' anyway, so I'm going to build something for them! :D
Here's my first plan:
No real sizes thought of yet, was just brainstorming.
So, the basic...
Right, I've been looking at this for a while, and I'm down in my mind to 2 cameras:
The Canon 500D and the Canon 550D
I think I would prefer the 550D as it is the newer model/slightly more future proof and is probably to the level that I'd theoretically never need to upgrade the base and...
