Hornworms aren't too friendly towards each other and bite, so that will leave black mark. It depends how big is discoloration. If you can post a picture that will help.

If you are trying to breed them, feed them with chow. They may not go through the whole life cycle if you will feed them greens or vegies and may slowly die out. If you will feed them mulberry leaves they may turn from teal to green.

Try to give your chameleon some food first and then slowly put your hand next to him. Chameleons don't like any sudden movements it may scare them. See if it changes anything.
