Comment by 'jannb' in 'Lost my Little Boy... What Now?'

Dr. Mader says the average life span of a chameleon is 4 to 6 years so Zaphod was right in the middle. You did a great job with him and he was such a handsome boy. There’s really something about well loved veileds and how easy it is to get attached to them. I think more so that anyother species...

Comment by 'jannb' in 'Egg Laying and the Laying Bin'

What kind of chameleon? Six is a very small number for a veiled or Panther. I recommend an official laying bin not just some dirt and sand in the bottom of the cage. If she were mine, I’d get an x-ray to see if there’s more eggs. She might need an injection of oxytocin. If she becomes egg bound...

Some keepers like to bake their branches from outside, personally I don't but we have gathered a few that were infested with bugs.

It's really nice to see you doing research before you get chameleon. A few comments for your "red's". Decor: you don't have to bake your bake you branches but some do to kill any bugs that might be on or in it. Lighting: a household build works very well for a basking light.

Comment by 'jannb' in 'When you're going through hell, just keep going'

I hate to hear you have had such a bad week. I've had a pretty rough day myself. My female Hera is not doing well and I spend a big part of the day injecting and medicating her per doctors orders. I hope that tomorrow and the weekend will be much brighter. Spend some extra time with your...

Comment by 'jannb' in 'Young Veiled Prey Intake, July 2013'

He's a good little eater and you have provided him with a large variety so he is bound to grow up into a big healthy boy. Everything sounds like the correct amounts to me. My little guy is 4 months old and still a little piggy. I'm now starting to skip feedings a couple days a week. I worry...

Dealing With The Loss of a Pet

I have been very sad having to deal with the loss of my chameleons. I feel like someone has ripped out my heart not just once but multiply times. At first I was in shock and denial then anger and depression. Since tax season is over I am staying busy to keep my mind off everything but it’s still...

Comment by 'jannb' in 'Coccidia and how to fight it'

I have found 40 voulme peroxide to be an excellent way to clean for coccidia. You can find the 40 volume peroxide at a beauty supply store and it's best to get the liquid and not the gel.

I love JoJo's story. Thank you for sharing it with us. My chams love for me to interact with them. Several of them reach and grab for me when they see me. I think that JoJo knows that you saved her and that she appreciates everything that you do for her. I look forward to your updates.
