    Baby furcifer verrucossus uv

Today my baby furcifer verrucossus arrived! Yay! He's around 16 weeks old and I've put him straight into a reptile breeze xl. Within minutes he was hunting down locusts, soldier flys and house flys. He even ate a few calci worms right out my hand, result! :p Anyways I am using a 12% t5 arcadia...

    Need some ideas

I'm setting up the enclosure for a young male furcifer verrucossus that I'll be getting soon and looking for some ideas of what else I could do to make it better. It's still looking quite bare and boring to me. I'll probably add another tree in a couple weeks but any other suggestions would be great

    Spiny chameleon supplements?

I'm soon to be getting a 3 month old furcifer verrucossus. All that I have read is that they are kept similarly to veilds or panthers which is fine because I have everything there and already set up. I've not seen much on their supplements though except for to dust with plain calcium once or...

    Uvb meter

Came across this whilst looking for a cheaper uvb meter. Would this give the correct readings for the chams lights? Or would it need to be a reptile specific one? KKmoon Precision Solar Power Meter Light Intensity Measurement Radiation Tester SM206...

    Reaction to butterworms

Today i fed my chams their first butterworms. My male panther and veiled were fine but my female has taken a reaction to them, it almost looks like she has been burned.

    Breeding woodlice

Has anyone ever bred the common woodlouse for feeding? I think the most common we have in the uk is called Oniscus asellus. I'm just really looking for more variety in my chams diet and if these breed as easy as roaches and a good feeder then I want to try my hand at these. I already breed...

Going away for a couple of weeks

I'll be working away for a couple of weeks so my mum and girlfriend will be looking after the 3 chams. I'm in need of suggestions of what they can feed them whilst I'm gone. Locusts are banned in this house cause their are always crickets in with them that escape, dubia are out of the question...

    Bleach fumes!

Ok so this is going to sound stupid but I was desperate and not thinking. A couple weeks ago I bought a bag of 200 locusts which contained a few crickets which got loose. They have been driving me and my family insane ever since cause they have got into the walls and we can't get to them. So...

    Stressed?

My female was showing bright orange receptive colours a couple days ago so introduced my male. They both gaped and he lunged for her so I quickly broke it up and put them back in their separate cages. She has been really dark ever since looking like her gravid colours, could it be she is still...

Just broke up an attempt to mate :(

Whilst I was cleaning the panther cages I accidentally left them open and went downstairs. When I returned, both male and female were on top of the blinds, I noticed he was head bobbing and on top of her. I got the fright of my life and broke it up. I'm thinking this was an attempt to mate? I...

    Arcadia mvb distance

I know it is preferred to use a basking and uv separate but I have had trouble with my vield in the past with mad when I first got him 3 years ago, this light set up gave me better results so I'm sticking with that. I use tubes and basking spots for my panthers. Anyways I've recently bought...

Both panthers trying to get out

Both of my panthers are recently always climbing the sides of their cages or waiting by the door to climb out onto my hand when I open it. I know when they reach a certain age sometimes they do this but both have already done so at about 6 months. They are both in xl reptibreeze cages and...

    Garden slugs

I was recently talking with some people about the feeding of garden slugs to monitors and turns out alot of the top keepers do this but will keep them a few days to ensure they haven't come into contact with any pesticides. I was wondering if the same would apply for chams aswell? Or wether it...

    Thought she was gravid

About 4 weeks ago my female panther was showing signs she was gravid, her colours and pacing the bottom of her cage. I immediately covered the cage up and has been since then but still hasn't layed. Today I removed the covers and to me, she looks normal again. She definitely hasn't layed from...

    Heat from an LED

A while back I found a spare 7.5w par16 GU10 LED bulb lying around the house so thought I'd use it for a little extra light above my males enclosure. I've noticed him basking under it quite frequently so used my temp gun to take some measurements. I've found that from around 8" away from it he...

when to replace a 10.0 uvb tube?

I'm using a repti glo 10.0 tube for my females repti breeze xl cage. Would the 6 month rule to replace still apply when it's a stronger bulb than the 5.0? It's almost at that 6 month mark and I was wondering if I could maybe get another month or so out of it?
